MY ROLE: Freelance, WordPress, WooCommerce Development

This project involved the full migration of a small business website from Weebly to WordPress, preserving the existing visual identity while strengthening the underlying architecture and functionality. In addition to the migration, the platform was re-engineered to replace a fragmented set of third-party tools with a single, scalable WordPress and WooCommerce solution.

The client previously relied on multiple services and manual processes to manage class registrations, payments, and customer communication. A centralized system was designed and implemented to automate these workflows, improve reliability, and support future business growth.

Key Contributions & Enhancements:

• Executed a full site migration from Weebly to WordPress while maintaining design consistency and improving code quality
• Architected a custom class enrollment system with a calendar view of all upcoming classes
• Implemented automated capacity limits to prevent overbooking
• Developed flexible pricing structures, including variable payment plans for select class types
• Enabled configurable scheduling across multiple dates, times, and locations as the business expanded
• Integrated add-ons for certifications and physical/digital products within class enrollment flows
• Built online certification variations with downloadable certificates
  (including development of the associated HTML-based course content)
• Designed and implemented customized automated confirmation and follow-up email workflows
• Unified class registrations and product sales into a single WooCommerce-based commerce system

Result:

The new platform eliminated manual administrative overhead, improved the customer enrollment experience, and delivered a maintainable, extensible foundation capable of supporting the client’s continued growth.
